June 29th I received the following email from Lou Lechner...I am sure some of you will get a kick out of this...

Sorry,,, and it was really my folks that saved that old stuff. 

They loved Rutherford and it was very difficult for them to leave in the 60s and go out to Ohio.. 

Wondered if we could have a Lincoln School theme,,, 

In the valley of Passaic stands the school we love. We are proud of dear old Lincoln and the flag above,, Crimson and Blue, we love thee true……………… 

Years back,, my Mom and I were visiting Rutherford and stopped by Lincoln School… there is now a little playground on the side of the school… There were some kids playing there,  some Moms and some older folks. 

We started talking and asked if one of the kids knew the Lincoln School song.. 

The kids started belting out the “in the valley of passaic”. Then the Moms joined in ,, and then the older folks… 

And I joined in….as did my Mom….. 

Turns out everyone there,,, except my Mom went to Lincoln School… the kids, the Moms ,and the grandparents. 

Sung to the tune of “far above Cayuga's waters''. Cornell University song….
