Alan Kress

KRESS--Alan Howard, an entertainment attorney who represented legendary musicians and performers, died on January 17th in New York City. He was 69. Mr. Kress was Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs for RCA Records, BMG International, BMG Classics and Warner Home Video. Subsequently, he founded an independent law firm representing artists, songwriters, music publishers, and producers. He served as a longtime member of the American Bar Association's Entertainment Law and Copyright Law Committees, and as a member of the Copyright Society of the United States. His work as editor of the discipline's main treatise, "Entertainment Industry Contracts," served as the foundation for a generation of entertainment lawyers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Marilyn, his daughter Marielle, his sister June, and his son-in-law Eric Goldstein.
