William Hutzel (Teacher)
William Nadler Hutzel was born November 3, 1925 in Passaic and died December 19, 1962 in Rutherford from anaphylactic shock, at the age of 37. He left a wife Catherine, who passed away April 2, 2020 and three young sons, William, Robert and Jamie.

Having a very checkered musical start - my grammar school violin teacher used to curse at me in Italian and then abandoning the trumpet, before rteurning to it, Mr. Hutzel was a revelation. I believe that he also ran the "summer band school." to which i rode on my trusty raleigh bike. He also led the Community Band, which played in the park accross from Borough Hall. His death was a shock and a major loss. The band shell in the park is named after him.
