Mildred Botti passed away on February 5, 2011. Born in 1922 in Ostigliano, Italy, she resided in Rutherford, NJ, since 1957.  Most of her career was spent teaching in Rutherford where she was a guidance counselor for many years.  She retired from Rutherford High School in 1985.  Mildred did volunteer work at Hackensack University Medical Center for many years. A fencer in college, she was named to the New Jersey State University Sports Hall of Fame. A women's rights proponent, in 1997 she spearheaded the drive to allow women membership in UNICO, a formerly all male Italian American Service Organization.
